Connected car vs. Cyberattacks

Connected car vs. Cyberattacks

If I had to characterize the 21st century in one word, that would be – Revolution!

We are witnessing a complete transformation of the automotive world and cloud computing makes this possible.

Telecommunication was revolutionized, years ago, by ‘Smart’phones, why shouldn’t the automotive industry be remodeled by ‘smart’cars? And, if you are wondering what phones and cars have in common, the answer is ‘smart’.

Connected cars are quickly rising and becoming part of everybody’s life. According to a MarketsandMarkets forecast, this industry will reach $46.69 Billion by 2020. So far so good, but, this evolution comes hand in hand with cyber threats expansion, so, there is only one thing we can do – make sure security comes first.

I came across an infographic, made by Arxan, which highlights the risks for connected cars. Moreover, an interesting insight caught my eyes: the forecast of connected cars for the next years. By 2020, 75% of cars shipped globally will be connected to the internet, which means that we will have to deal with more systems to protect against emerging cyber threats. Nevertheless, what I particularly enjoy about this infographic is that it provides you insights on how a connected car can be hacked, but it shows you how to protect it as well.
